About TTUHSC El Paso

Along a 54-mile section of the Rio Grande, at the farthest western tip of Texas, is the intersection of three states and two countries.

While the river forms boundaries that divide Texas from New Mexico and the United States from Mexico, the vibrant 400-year history of the region, replete with resiliency, united the people who live here. With an ever-increasing multicultural and majority-Hispanic population, our region serves as a proud exemplar of our nation’s future. There’s a palpable energy driving through the confluence of people and cultures in our border region, and the population here thrives in an atmosphere where multiple cultures and multiple languages create new opportunities. We understand — better than most — the advantages and challenges associated with immigration, health care access, educational opportunities and racial equity.

At Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, our history spans decades. As the only health sciences center on the U.S.-Mexico border, we serve 108 counties in West Texas that are historically underserved. Our unique story encompasses the thousands of lives we’ve impacted through access to health care and higher education in an area with several health care professional shortages. Together with our community, we’re reducing barriers to health care while providing students from our region and beyond with life-changing educational opportunities that will impact families for generations.
